CAMILLE A. BROWN & DANCERS RESIDENCY AT DUKE PERFORMANCES
This week — Tuesday, November 6 through Saturday, November 10 — Camille A. Brown & Dancers begins its three-part residency at Duke! Working at the crossroads of theater and politics, Brown's trailblazing work mixes ancestral stories and pop culture references to examine aspects of black existence that have been revised, appropriated, or silenced. Leading up to the Friday, November 9 and Saturday, November 10 performances of 'ink', the third installment of her visionary trilogy on African American identity, Brown and her company will offer a social dance workshop, "Black Men Moving," at Empower Dance Studio; an advanced modern dance master class at Duke's Rubenstein Arts Center; and a lunchtime conversation at The Pinhook, part of Duke Performances' Arts & Context series, with free pizza from Pie Pushers. Full details on these free public engagements are available on Duke Performances' website.
